2027 Best Fleets Nominations Open Through October 31

Company drivers and independent contractors can now nominate qualifying carriers for the 2027 Best Fleets to Drive For program. FleetOwner reported September 9 that CarriersEdge is accepting nominations through October 31, 2026, beginning the annual review of for-hire fleets that provide strong driver workplaces in the United States and Canada.

A carrier needs only one driver nomination to enter, and there is no participation fee or association-membership requirement. Eligible fleets must operate at least 10 tractor-trailers. Participating companies complete a questionnaire and interview covering compensation, benefits, human-resources practices, professional development, operations, communication, work-life balance and other parts of the driver experience.

Drivers and independent contractors at participating fleets also complete surveys about their actual workplace experience. Those responses are considered with the fleet evaluation and performance measures such as safety and driver retention. The process will identify a Top 20, Fleets to Watch and qualifying Hall of Fame fleets. Overall winners in small-fleet, large-fleet and Hall of Fame categories are scheduled to be recognized April 5-6, 2027, in Kansas City, Missouri.

For drivers, a nomination is an opportunity to recognize practices that are visible behind the wheel: honest recruiting, predictable pay, safe equipment, useful training, respectful dispatch and workable home-time policies. For carriers, the evaluation can expose gaps between written programs and daily execution. Fleets considering participation should avoid coaching survey responses and instead make sure drivers know how to offer candid feedback. Recognition has marketing value, but the more durable benefit is a structured look at whether a carrier's promises match the job drivers experience every week.
