DSV Opens 853,000-Square-Foot Laredo Cross-Border Hub

DSV has opened an 853,000-square-foot multi-client logistics facility in Laredo, Texas, expanding its capacity along one of the busiest U.S.-Mexico freight corridors. FleetOwner reported October 23 that the site brings warehousing, transportation, customs brokerage, fulfillment, inventory management and distribution services together under one roof. The company designed the hub to support shippers with complex cross-border supply chains.

The facility offers standard pallet and master-case racking, warehouse-management-system-enabled cross-docking and omnichannel fulfillment. Storage options include bonded space and Foreign-Trade Zone capacity for short- or long-term inventory. Customs services include northbound U.S. processing, on-site Mexican customs support, brokerage and trade-compliance assistance. Combining these functions may reduce handoffs between separate logistics providers.

For motor carriers serving Laredo, the new hub could create additional transfer, drayage and distribution opportunities, but appointment discipline will remain important. Dispatchers should verify which party controls customs documents, trailer interchange, seal records and delivery status before a driver enters the facility. Cross-border loads can lose hours when information is split among the shipper, broker, customs provider, warehouse and carrier.

Drivers should arrive with the correct pickup number, shipment references and contact instructions while protecting any seal and reporting discrepancies immediately. Fleets evaluating new lanes should measure border wait time, empty miles, detention rules, reload probability and the operating authority required for each segment. A large integrated facility can improve freight visibility and coordination, but profitable service still depends on clear responsibilities and realistic schedules on both sides of the border.
