Fleetworthy has expanded its Expedited Inspection service to California, Michigan, Vermont and Maine, adding four states to the Nevada program that began in June 2025. FreightWaves reported October 15 that the system can electronically send fleet, vehicle and driver record-of-duty-status data to an officer when a participating truck is selected for inspection. The service is designed to reduce time spent exchanging information at roadside without removing the officer's authority to complete an inspection.
The technology automates a process drivers already must understand. Under FMCSA's official ELD transfer workflow, an authorized safety official requests electronic records and supplies a routing code. The driver initiates the transfer through the ELD, and the official locates and reviews the file in the federal eRODS system. A driver must also be able to display or print records when requested. Fleetworthy says its platform handles the data handoff and prefills portions of the inspection form, but the underlying federal record-production duty remains.
Current eligibility requires Fleetworthy's Weigh Station Bypass service and, for now, a Geotab or Platform Science ELD. A Nevada Highway Patrol sergeant said the workflow has saved about 15 minutes per inspection. That figure is an operational estimate from the existing program, not a guaranteed time reduction for every stop or a promise that a participating vehicle will avoid inspection.
Fleets considering activation should confirm compatible equipment, driver authorization and data accuracy before dispatch. Drivers should still know their ELD's manual transfer steps, keep login access current and review duty status before reaching an inspection site. Training should treat automation as a faster delivery channel, not a substitute for accurate logs, required documents or a roadworthy truck. A failed connection should not become a failed inspection because the driver cannot complete the standard process.
