Tesla Semi Nevada Factory Lists 103 Jobs as Fleet Orders Grow

Tesla's dedicated Semi operation in Sparks, Nevada, listed 103 job openings with Semi in the title as of October 16, three weeks after high-volume production began. FreightWaves reported that the 1.7-million-square-foot factory was designed for annual capacity of 50,000 electric Class 8 trucks. Tesla has not disclosed its current production rate, so the hiring count signals expansion but does not establish how many vehicles are leaving the line.

Fleet commitments are building around the production ramp. IMC Logistics ordered 50 Semis in October, following WattEV's May order for 370 trucks. Tesla was also named the lead manufacturer for a 2,500-truck ZET SCALE alliance order announced in September, although the alliance did not specify how many units will be Tesla Semis. Before the dedicated line opened, the operating fleet included fewer than 200 pilot trucks delivered to customers such as PepsiCo, DHL and US Foods.

Open positions cover assembly, stamping, powertrain quality, equipment maintenance, construction, dispatch and CDL driving. FreightWaves also counted 66 Semi-related postings outside Sparks, including service roles in Laredo, Elizabeth and Chicago. That broader footprint matters because fleet adoption depends on maintenance and charging support as much as factory capacity. One Pilot-Tesla Megacharger location is open, with 12 more reported under construction.

Carriers evaluating electric tractors should avoid treating factory capacity or an announced order as a delivery guarantee. Pricing remains undisclosed, and fleets still need firm timelines, charging plans, payload analysis, route compatibility and service coverage. Drivers and technicians may see new opportunities as the support network grows, but employers should provide model-specific high-voltage safety and operating training before assigning personnel to the equipment.
